Jessica had missed the entire first day of school, and she had been running late for the second. She had thought these Nightmares were over, boy was she wrong! it had been three days of no sleep slowly moving toward a fourth, how long would caffeine pills last? She had taken a thermos with her to school that day, inside was cappuccino. Coffee didn't seem to feel as strong as it had once.
Stressed, she was stressed, she felt like a little bit of butter spread across too much bread. There was so much to do and yet so little to really be done. Her mind was racing all the time, she went from home to school and school to home. During the summer she went out with Jason and again back home, he'd been her rock throughout the whole thing. She knew she couldn't lean on him forever. She had to do something, but wasn't prepared to do anything.
The truth of the matter is, that Jessica felt like a lost, scared little girl, and she hated it. Even then her eyes were wanting to close, she felt as if she were walking through a dream, but she was awake. She knew she couldn't take much more of this, the body needed sleep to regenerate, it was only a matter of time.
"Freddy!" A name was called and Jessica froze in the hall and looked around, then she realized that it was a teacher calling to another student, for a moment she felt as if her heart had stopped in her chest, now it started up again, beating quickly, pumping blood through her veins. With a sigh she started walking again and eventually made it to her locker. She looked terrible, her eyes were red from the lack of sleep, dark underneath. Her skin was pale and even her hair didn't seem as radiant as it had once. Everything about her just seemed so...tired, but there was nothing...Nothing she could do. It was kind of like a curse that was put on her out of spite, she didn't understand why it had to be her! Why couldn't it have happened to someone else?
Jessica felt as if she might cry, but held back since tears would make her red eyes sting. All she wanted to do was get to class, see Jason, and go home, maybe have him over for tea, it was her night to cook!
